Camcora — Terms of Use
Last updated: July 3, 2026
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of Camcora (the "App"), an on-device iOS camcorder app operated by Tobias Zehndbauer (see the Impressum for full provider details). By downloading or using the App you agree to these Terms.
The App
Camcora lets you record videos and photos with effects that emulate the look and sound of analog and early digital video equipment (such as VHS-era camcorders). Recording and processing take place locally on your device. Effects, on-screen displays, and — in the free version — a watermark are permanently rendered into the resulting recordings.
You retain all rights to your own recordings. Clips and photos you create with Camcora remain yours, and you are free to use them, including commercially. Camcora is provided for your personal use; you may not resell, redistribute, or reverse-engineer the App itself.
Free version and paid options
The free version includes two camera presets, export up to 1080p with a watermark, and a recording length of up to 3 minutes per clip.
Camcora Pro unlocks all camera presets, export up to 4K, video import, removal of the watermark on new recordings, and unlimited recording length. Camcora Pro is available as:
- Lifetime — a one-time purchase.
- Monthly subscription — auto-renewing, billed monthly.
Prices may vary by region and over time and are shown in the App Store at purchase. The watermark is only removed from recordings made while Pro is active; it cannot be removed from recordings in which it has already been rendered.
Billing and renewal
Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase. Auto-renewing subscriptions renew automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period, at the rate of the selected plan.
You can manage or cancel a subscription, and turn off auto-renewal, in your Apple ID account settings on your device (Settings → your name → Subscriptions) after purchase. Deleting the App does not cancel a subscription.
Refunds
Purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple via the App Store. Refunds are handled by Apple according to App Store policy; we are generally unable to grant refunds directly. Your statutory consumer rights, including any statutory right of withdrawal for digital content under EU/German law, remain unaffected.
Sharing to third-party platforms
The App offers optional sharing to TikTok and Instagram. Use of those platforms is subject to their own terms and community guidelines. You are responsible for the content you record and share, and for having any necessary rights and consents (for example, from people who appear in your recordings).
License
Subject to these Terms, you are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on Apple devices that you own or control, as permitted by the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, or redistribute the App except as allowed by applicable law.
Intellectual property
The App and its content (excluding your own recordings) are protected by copyright and other laws. Recordings you create remain yours. Camcora emulates the aesthetics of analog and early digital video technology; format designations (such as VHS, Hi8, MiniDV) are used as generic descriptions of historic video formats. Camcora is an independent project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any manufacturer of cameras or video equipment, nor by TikTok/ByteDance, Meta/Instagram, or Apple; third-party names referenced are the property of their respective owners.
Disclaimer and limitation of liability
The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, to the extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that processing results will meet your expectations. Note in particular that effects and watermarks are rendered permanently into recordings; keep originals where they matter to you (Camcora offers an optional "Master Tape" setting for this).
To the extent permitted by applicable law, our liability is limited to damages caused by intent or gross negligence, and to the breach of essential contractual obligations (cardinal obligations). For the slightly negligent breach of essential obligations, liability is limited to the foreseeable, typical damage. Mandatory statutory liability — including under the German Product Liability Act and for injury to life, body, or health — remains unaffected.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding the UN CISG. Mandatory consumer-protection provisions of the country in which you have your habitual residence remain unaffected.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
